After the initial disaster on Monday, things should have picked up. The location was great. The view from the dining room across the North Yorkshire Moors was amazing. The cottage was very well laid out. It had a large kitchen/dining room and a good sized living room. The equipment was all new and we seemed to lack for nothing. All five bedrooms had an en-suite and were adequately sized. It was quiet and had very little traffic and what traffic it had seemed to be people like us, enjoying a cottage holiday.
Now, there were two problems here. The first being the weather. One minute the sun was out and it was quite warm, the next minute it would be pouring down or the wind would pick or both. Not much you can do about that, and it didn’t help that I had forgotten to take a coat. Doh! The second was the problem I referred to in an earlier post. That of different age groups wanting to do different things at the same time and no-one seeming to come to single agreement. I find that these days, I need to know what I’m doing, when I’m doing it and it was even more difficult this time for some reason. I don’t think the family cottage holiday will happen again, and I certainly don’t want another week like the last one.
Then, to cap it all, we got a phone call from R***’s respite to say that his transport had not arrived. It would seem that one of the team that were to pick him up, had gone sick, and the only replacement was on another call and was late. It would not have taken the transport company more than two minutes to call and say there was a delay. Fortunately R*** seemed to cope with it quite well and we did not have an issue.
It’s a bit of a strange day today. K*** only goes out to work on a Sunday. She is a customer Service adviser at a nearby supermarket and she took the job quite a few years ago. She elected for Sundays only as I was working Monday to Friday and we need someone to look after R***. Just before the aforementioned holiday, she got a call from her line manager asking if she could work today from 14:00 to 19:30. As a favour, she agreed and so it’s a bit like a Sunday this afternoon. R*** seems to be in a fantastic mood, as sometimes a change to any routine upsets him, but he appears to be okay at the moment. Fingers crossed it keeps up.
I’m having a bit of an issue with getting notification emails into Outlook. The problem seems to have started after I turned off ‘3rd party app access’ from within my Google account. The email I use for my blog is a Gmail account and it appears that Google has decided that Microsoft Outlook is a 3rd party app and is to be blocked. I’ve turned off the blocking but there is still a problem. I’ll fix it, but until then, I’m using the Gmail website to get any notifications.
It has been a funny week or three. Funny as in odd/strange not as in humour. R*** has been better since resorting back to the old medication. We still seem to be living on an knife edge at times, but he seems to be having a lot more good times than bad. We also have just found out that he has got his funding for the college we want him to go to. Not sure how long the funding will continue for, but it’s a start. Just now need to sort out the transport costs, and we can put that one to bed for a while.
Mrs H found out that the mole she had removed, was a Melanoma !! I think she kind of knew it really. So that’s not been a good time for any of us. She is having a scan next week, to see if it has travelled to her lymph nodes. Fingers crossed that it hasn’t, then it would only mean a minor operation in day surgery.
Now to the new job !! It has finally sunk in to those who are supposed to be in charge. My job has gone, and I am now going to be doing something else. I think will still be supporting the systems, but I will be moving office. A certain person (and those who know me from work, will know who I mean) has finally realised that I’m going, and he’s none too pleased about it. A few words were said last week, that led me to realise the this person does not care about what has happened to me, and is only thinking of himself. One of his comments, really hit home and got me very angry. So angry, that I accused him of having no respect for me at all. I did not get any indication from him that I was mistaken. He basically accused me of ‘walking away from the job’… That I was going to leave my colleagues in the lurch. The fact that I have been writing out instructions for the jobs I do did not seem to click. He meant that I somehow had some control over the procedure that had been taking place for the past eight months, and that I should have done something to stop it. I mean, what have they been doing since August to prepare for the eventuality, that I would not be doing the same job? Where is Plan ‘B’ ? come to think of it…where was Plan ‘A’ ? There was always the chance, that I would not get any of the jobs that were up for grabs. What would they have done then ? He has not spoken to me since.
Someone else asked me if I would miss the job? Their face was a picture when I said no, that I had had enough now. I think that they really were asking if I would miss them !! I’ve been in the job for 22 years. It’s going to be a big change, but i think I’m ready for it. anyway, I’ve no choice in the matter, so I’m going to give it all I have, and enjoy the challenge.
The computer task I had scheduled to run as a test, this morning, went without a hitch. The routine started, did what it had to do and finished. A couple of things were different from the usual, but it is nothing untoward. Part two of the testing will happen next week. I have set the routine to run at 1 minute past midnight on Monday morning. If all goes to plan, and I don’t see why it should not, then our notices will be ready for printing when we get in.
Youngest is not very happy tonight. Mrs H said he was upset when he got home, and that he had been upset on the bus. We are guessing, as he cannot tell us, that someone on the bus is causing him a problem. Of course, the escorts can’t say what upsets him, just reports that he is out of sorts. Mrs H is seeing his teacher tomorrow, so may get more of an idea. Could be the length of time he is on the bus that’s the problem. It is silly really. We only live a mile and a half away, but he has to go by the school transport because there is nowhere to park to drop him off.
I uploaded a video, to Facebook from the gig on Saturday night. Looks quite good, and already B** tagged his flatmate in it. Well pleased ……
