Strange but true …

The strangest thing about being “Home Alone” is the noises that occur during the night. K*** is away with her sister and niece and R*** is on respite until Friday. Usually, R*** has his computer and TV on all night and you can hear that as a faint background noise. Then there is your partners breathing and other sleep noises, which I won’t go into. But you get used to Sleepthose sounds as they have become part of the norm. Now, when those noises are not there, you begin to hear the other noises. The noises that you never normally hear or register. Monday night is an example.

I had woken up around 2:30 for some reason and was struggling to get back to sleep. My usual sleep trick of trying to focus on a single thought wasn’t working and I was just laying there, listening. The creak of the floorboards. The passing car. The screech of the owl. The cats fighting down the road. The neighbour taking his dog for a walk (not kidding.) The hum of the refrigerator downstairs. They are all noises which I don’t usually hear. Then just as you start to drift off to sleep, the wind blows and one of the room doors bangs shut. You know what it is, but it shakes you up a bit and you’re back where you started.

Then last night, I was late going to bed (reason below). It was gone midnight when I settled down, but was awake at 4:00 and just dozed until 7:00 when I decided to get up. Couldn’t stay in bed any longer.

<><><><><><><>

Went out last night. Went to the Red Lion in the village. It’s been a long time since I was there on a Tuesday night. Stopped going when I started to get worried how K*** would manage if Red LionR*** had a melt-down. But, as I was on my own, I thought ‘why not?’ Tuesday is “Quiz Nite” as they call it, so all the old faces I used to drink with were there. It seemed strange to see them again, as it must be a year since I was last in on a Tuesday. I didn’t do the quiz, as I’m not so good on my own, but it was nice being part of that crowd again. I was thinking as I walked home, that when R*** starts his new respite hours in July, Tuesdays will be one of the days when he is away every week. I think it is time to maybe start the “Quiz Nite” visit again on a more regular basis. Just got to convince K*** that it might just be fun.

<><><><><><><>

Eldest is coming round tonight. He has someone to see and something on with the drama group. He is not taking a big active role in the group this year as he is finding it a little tiring at the moment. So no “Murder Mystery” play and no Pantomime either. The group are still trying to get him to take a part, but he’s insistent that he wants a break this year. They’ll be going on to the pub, so it will be another late night. Then tomorrow, I’m out with my old school friend. But I’ll be driving back, so it may not be a late night.

New Camera and things

Quiz-nite, last night was fun. R*** is on respite, so Mrs H was allowed out. Didn’t win either the quiz or the bingo, but one of our ‘team’ won the football card, so not a total washout. There was some wine left, when we got home, so Mrs H drank that and I had a couple or three whiskies. My head was a bit thick this morning !!!!

Work plods on as usual. The person I, and the rest of the office, have issues with is still the same. They are trying to cause trouble for someone, and they don’t care who gets trampled on the way. Well it’s not going to be me !!!! I said before, that I don’t hold grudges, but in this case, I may make an exception.

New Camera - Panasonic Lumix TZ20      I got a new camera on Monday. It is a bit more complicated than my last one. The only problem with the old one, was that the LCD display had failed. Now I could have just used the viewfinder, but the problem with that is that the digital zoom Old Camera - Canon Powershot A80only shows in the LCD screen. So a new camera was the way to go. I did intend spending about £50.00, but Mrs H twisted my arm, and the one I got was nearer £250.00. There is a lot to learn with this one, but I’m getting there. It has a 16x optical zoom plus a 4x digital zoom, up to 14mp and it came with a 4gb memory card. Been looking to get a case for it, but it is proving to be a bit of a challenge. I don’t need anything flash, just something to stop it getting scratched.

Nearly over ….

The decorating is all done. Well, when I say ‘all done’ I mean the new flooring and the wallpapering is done. I’ve not done the paintwork, except for the window shelf. I managed to do that on Monday night, at around 9:30pm. It has been a long week. What with that and having to work all day Tuesday and Thursday morning, I’m quite shattered. S**** came up for the quiz-nite on Tuesday night, and I took him back first thing on Wednesday. The quiz was a bit of a let down. No prize this week, and no footie card. I do hope they get a permanent landlord/lady soon. The atmosphere is not the best at the moment. In fact, there is no atmosphere at the moment. It is the kind of thing that could kill the pub.

R*** is back this afternoon. Hope he is in a good mood. I think he should be, but it is quite likely that he will want his Mum. Could be a bit of a difficult evening, if he does not understand that she will be back tomorrow. Fingers crossed. I don’t know how he has been, during his respite. I rang last night, and they told me ‘he’s been fine’ and then ‘he’s not eaten much’ followed by ‘we gave him some stew and mash, but he would not eat it’. How many times do we have to explain this to them. He will only eat certain foods. This is part of his Autistic condition !!!!! I think we are going to have to write to the centre manager and make a formal complaint or something. There is no wonder he always says that he does not want to go. I would not want to go if they tried to give me food I cannot eat !!

Title .. what title …

It has been a strange week. My hospital appointment, on Monday went without a problem, and we managed to get out for lunch afterwards, which was nice. A big upset on Tuesday though !! I went to the quiz-nite, in the village pub, and found out the landlord and his family were being moved on by the brewery !! They had only been given a weeks notice, and they had to be out by Thursday, ready for the new people to move in. It is, apparently, the type of thing the brewery does often.  So it was quite an emotional end to the evening. They have been in situ for just over 5 years, and I have been a regular now for nearly 3 of those years. To think though, I nearly did not go that night. Me and Mrs H went for a meal on Thursday evening, and called in the pub to have a look at the new people, only to find that they pulled out at the last minute, and an emergency relief was in instead !!!

Had a really bad cold-caller this lunchtime. I picked the phone up, and the voice, which sounded like a child, asked to speak to the ‘homeowner’. I said they were speaking to them, and the voice said, that they ‘were doing a special promotion, in my area…’. I asked who they were, and the voice said ‘Space Kitchens’. I told the voice that I was not interested, and they just hung up !!!! No attempt to twist my arm … no questions as to why I was not interested, and most annoying of all, no thank you !!!!! Astounding!! I Googled the company, and found that there were very many dissatisfied customers. They did not even have a postal address on their web-site. Enough said.

Youngest seems to have had a good respite session. Mrs H asked him last night, if he had had fun, and he said yes !!! Maybe he is beginning to settle down now. I hope so, because the next time is when Mrs H goes away with her sister for a week in mid February. That will be a crunch time I think. They still don’t seem to understand his likes/dislikes with food. Every place he goes to, think they know best, and try to get him to eat the same food as them. Well he will eat more different foods than he did say 5 years ago, but they claim he ate a ‘burger, with cauliflower and peas’ !!!!! I find that extremely hard to believe. He will eat a burger if there is nothing else, but for someone with his eating habits, cauliflower does not ring true to me. Mrs H said that the line was very bad, so they may have thought it was someone else that was ringing.

Better late than ……..

I did intend to post on Thursday evening. However, due to circumstances, entirely within my control (ie going to the pub again !!!) I failed to make it. The ‘play’ seems to be getting there, slowly but surely. Fingers crossed that on opening night, nobody forgets too many lines.  s**** has put a lot of work and thought into this. Just two more cast pictures to add to the programme and that is done.

No win at the quiz-nite this week, bit in our defence, the questions were quite hard. Highest score as only 32, and we were only one behind on 31. The picture quiz, were all international football shirts !!! R**, who is not known as a football fan, got them all bar one!

The work on the blog/website for the PTA is all but finished. I have just to update it with some links, and it will be ready approved. Once i get the go-ahead, I’ll put a link on this blog. There should be no problem with the newsletter, although, I would like to make it into a two page spread. I have a couple of ideas for non-PTA stuff, such as a word-search, Sudoku, crossword, that type of thing. It may add a bit of fun to what could become a quite boring piece of paper.

I don’t think I will watch the football today. I’m interested in who will win, but I seem to have lost interest sine England went out. I feel that Spain will win, but secretly hope that Holland do instead.

Very busy week at work, but it is set to be a bit quieter this week. I am off on Tuesday. Mrs H and me (possibly S**** too) are going to revisit the residential college, that we hope to get R*** into when he finishes school. S**** has never been, and I’m not too sure if he will go this time, but we will see.

One more day ….

This seems to have been a long week. It fact, it HAS been a long week. A few problems at work, and lots to do. Although I don’t think the last two late nights have helped much. Quiz-nite on Tuesday, and for one reason or another, it was gone half past eleven when I ‘staggered’ out of the pub. I did not sleep too well, and was up before six yesterday morning. Last night was just as bad/good. Got back in just after midnight, and the eldest wanted a whiskey (well I’ll blame him for it anyway) so it was nearly one o’clock when I went to bed. Thought I may get an early(ish) night tonight, but the youngest is still making one of his computer movies and it has not finished yet. It’s ten to eleven and there are still ten minutes to go !!!!

The play seems to be going quite well, although I think they still have some way to go before they are ready. There are only a few more rehearsal dates, and from what I can gather, some people are going to need those dates more than others. Still, I have designed the poster and tickets, and have made a start on the the program. Printing the program is going to be the problem though. I can do the posters, as we only need about 15 A4 pages or so, and the tickets will take twenty pieces of A4 card. The program will take 2 double sided A4 pages for each program, and as we are expecting to sell in excess of 120 tickets, with a program for each, that is a lot of printing. My printer would not cope with it. We are going to have to find someone who will copy it for free or very very cheaply.

Tired and working too hard …… (my excuse)

Quiz-nite on Tuesday went very well. That ‘spare part’ feeling had dissipated somewhat. The two people, in the group that don’t usually acknowledge my presence, did this week. That made it a very pleasant evening. However …… getting home at 23:45, and then deciding to have a brandy (or two) is not a good idea. Wednesday morning, one was very delicate to say the least. I should know better, but …… then along comes drama group night, with the eldest at home, and the same happens again !! Whiskey this time, but not as much to drink though, so the old head was in a better condition!

Strange character in the pub though. He was the only one in when I got there, and gave me a very slight nod of the head when I said ‘good evening’ (am I getting paranoid about this …) He just sat there drinking his beer, looking straight ahead. This carried on even after the drama group turned up. It is such a friendly pub, that we tried to include him, but to no avail. Just sat there. Each to their own I suppose.

Work was interesting yesterday. A number of us got presented with an award for excellent sickness record over that past year. A tiepin of all things. even the women got a tiepin !!! No imagination at all. It is a bit of a joke really, as it is supposed to demonstrate our “commitment, dedication and professional attitude” to the job. In fact, it was a celebration of good luck really. Good luck in the fact, that the days when I felt ill, I was not at work anyway. It is hard on people that have to have time off work for life enhancing surgical operations. They get no reward! So to me it seems a little unfair.

My work PC is still out of action. I have decided that when (if) it gets fixed, that I’ll just stick to the lap-top. Makes my desk a lot cleaner. I’ve an interesting job to do tomorrow. It is not really our area of work, but the boss has decided that we can do the work. In the current climate, I’m happy to keep my hand in at anything.

Back to work ….

The rest of Sunday went quite well. Youngest came back in a good mood. It sounds like he had had a good time. Eldest called, but I’m not sure he knew what day it was. Tried to ring Mrs H, but forgot she was working.

Then it was work !!!!! D*** is on holiday for a week, so it was up to K**** to cover some of his work. It’s not fair really, as P*** is the supervisor, and it should be him that runs the show. Still K**** is the better of the two. It’s just a shame she does not get paid for what she does. Still having some issues with some of the routines and procedures. Certain people, think they know what they are doing. I think they are beginning to realise that they know a lot less than they thought.

It was a busy day though. There was a lot of jobs to get through, but I got my head down, and they all got done. I don’t think G***, my colleague that sits opposite me was too happy with me. Lots of tuts and sighing. But there are times when I just need to crack on, and chatting over the desktop is not a priority. No doubt she will have a moan to the boss about it.

Mrs H talked to S**** tonight. She tried chatting on MSN, but he was not answering. I think he was using his mobile to connect, and it does not always show when someone comes online. Anyway, I texted him to say she wanted to chat, and he said she could ring. From what I could make out, he did not get up until 06:00pm, and was just making some food at 10:00pm !!! Mrs H did not look pleased. He does not make it easy !!!

Now, the question is …… do I go to the quiz-night tomorrow ??? Sometimes, I think I’m expected, then other times, I feel like a spare part. I’ll not decide until the last moment, but I’ll be out on Wednesday night (drama group), and may be out on Saturday (?), and definitely out on Sunday, so who knows .

A new era (or any other cliche)

So here we are. A new Government and a ‘new’ type of politics. For my money, it has been clear from the very start, that Nick would be Dave’s stooge, and dance to any tune. It most probably will be different at national level, but Leeds has had a Tory/Lib-Dem coalition for the past few years, and you only have to look at how they handled the refuse dispute to see the way things could go.

Enough of politics. Well enough from me for the time being.

I just noted, in the local press, that a group of ‘angry residents’ are complaining that a phone company have put a temporary phone mast close to their gardens. I have to ask myself, how many of these people have mobile phones of their own, and how many of their kids have them !!!!

Quiz-night last night. We did quite well for a change. Still no win, but it was our highest score. Eldest is at home with us for a few days. He was supposed to be directing the village play this year, but has been let down by people who say yes then say no. He emailed everyone last week to say he was going to have to cancel the play. Everyone who had committed were disappointed, so a meeting has been arranged to see what can be pulled out of the fire. I have a strong suspicion, that he will not be directing again.

Late nights …..

Two late nights in a row !!!! I’m getting too old for this. Tuesday was, as usual, quiz-night. I had no intentions of going, as I sometimes feel a little out of place. Don’t know why, as I’m always made very welcome. No wins on anything though, and the quiz was quite difficult. P** bought me another pint. She got me one on my birthday. I think I need to buy a round next week. In the end, it was gone midnight, when I got in.

Last night, the eldest was up for his drama rehearsal. The usual pub was closed, apparently, Sam Smith’s pubs around here have to close one day a week. The Red Lion is usually closed on Mondays, but with the Bank Holiday, they opened, and closed on Wednesday. So we ended up in the other pub. Quite a bit more expensive, and a little bit clique. Still, it was a very enjoyable evening. We got in about twenty past twelve. S**** wanted to use the PC, so we had a small whiskey, which made it around one o’clock when I went to bed. He stayed up a little longer, and I think he was listening to an audio tape in his room for a while afterwards.

Work blog

A slight deviation from the norm. I am writing this whilst at work ! It not something I do often, but there is not a lot of point starting anything fresh at the moment. Another late night last night. Eldest had his first talk though of his play last night. After a few bumpy moments, I think everything settled down, and it seemed to go quite well.

Mrs H and me joined him at the pub, when they finished, which was about 10:00pm. We arrived back home at about 11:50pm, after a very pleasant evening. I fancied another drink, so S**** and I decided to have a small whiskey before I went to bed. Ended up chatting until gone 01:15am. Mrs H and me had been out the night before. As the youngest is on respite this week, we went to the quiz-nite. We got back just after 11:30pm that night. So this morning, I was a little bit tired, to say the least. S**** however, was still up at 03:00am!!!! There will not be a late night tonight (probably.)

Where did the week go ……

Well, it must be an age thing, as I just don’t know what happened to this week. Where to start……Nothing much has happened really. Saturday was more or less a quite day. S**** came up for the evening. It was that music gig at the Albion in Clifford. It’s called Strawberry Jam (?) and is basically a getting together (hence the Jam) of some local musicians and singers, in a local pub. It is organised by a local girl, and is good fun.

S**** went on to a party afterwards and arrived home at about half past six on Sunday morning, with the tale of drinking Vodka and stuff, in a hot-tub, with about seven others !!!!! He has no idea what happened to his wet underwear (they did wear underwear, I understand.) He appears to have enjoyed it.

Quiz-nite tomorrow. S**** is not coming up until Wednesday, so it would be me and Mrs H, if we go. I’m not too sure that I want to go, after last week. Saying that though, I don’t suppose I can let an idiot spoil, what has become a part of my life these days. Decided, we shall go to the quiz !!!!

R*** is on respite this week, and me and Mrs H are quite thankful for the break. He has really been up and down over the past few weeks. I think his mouth must have been hurting on holiday, and he has a sore lip at the moment. The problem we have, is that he cannot tell us that it hurts … he cannot communicate that feeling or emotion. If you ask him it hurts, he will say yes, even if there is no pain. It’s a dilemma, and sometime we have to err on the side of caution.

Another year older ..etc etc

Yesterday was my birthday. It is beginning to sound like a Bingo call these days ….. “All the Fives …. 55”. Work was fine, and everybody seemed to wish me well for the day, so that was good. Eldest came up for the evening, which was a nice surprise, although I thought he may turn up.

We went to the quiz-nite, but that was a disaster. There was a guy came in, whom I’d not seen before, but apparently was in last week. He liked to think he was funny, or witty, but he was neither, and after about 30 minutes, he became very irritating. In the end, we gave up with the quiz, and were home by 10:30. Spolit the evening really. If he turns up again, I will stop going.

Work and stuff …

Work went quite well yesterday, up until around 2pm. I had to demonstrate how to do a job, and it went completely wong. It would seem IT struck again. Some of our staff, need to save images on a computer network drive. However, they get an Access Denied message. Very strange, as the drive is a shared drive.

Leeds lost again last night, and to Milwall of all teams. That put Leeds in a very vunerable position. They cannot afford to lose anymore matches, as Milwall is only three points behind them. At this rate, Leeds could end up in the playoffs again, and I don’t think anyone wants to go through that again !!

Work today is problematic. The toilets are blocked again (seems to be every two weeks this happens). They know what the problem is, and ‘think’ they know who is causing it, but it is not getting fixed.

Quiz night tonight. Me and Mrs H are to have a go. Can’t see us winning, but whilst the youngest is away, it’s a chance to get out. And then I have a day off tomorrow. Last of this years leave.

First day ….

I am absolutely knackered !!!! I still have not recovered from the move on Saturday. Painting and decorating going quite well. Managed to get the ceiling done. Starting on the walls tomorrow. I should get the base coat and the two top coats on 3/4 of the walls done. Then I’ll have to move my computer desk !!!! a bit like having a tooth out, if you know what I mean !!!!!

Looks like S**** is coming home for the night tomorrow. Mrs H must have rung him.

Quiz-nite tonight, but I gave up half way through. Not a lot of fun on your own.

First day over and done

That, as they say, is that. Day one down. Only 364 until 2011 !!!! When you think about it, it’s not really a long time. Or is it just me, dreading the countdown to next Christmas smile_sad

Eldest lad goes back to his flat tomorrow. Mrs H is not going to be to happy about that. She hoped he would spend the day with us today. That did not happen. He went to the New Years party at the village hall, after we had had a few drinks in the pub. I think we expected him home around 2am or maybe 2:30am. Mrs H rang him at 3:30am, just to see where he was, and he texted back to say he was at a friends and would be sleeping there. Now, would you not think he could have let us know ? Anyway, we thought that he would be kicked out about 10:00, but no, he arrived back at just after 2:30pm. A quick hello, and it was up to his room to chat on the computer with all his friends. Saying that though, it was 2:00am when I finally stopped chatting this morning smile_embaressed

So it has been quite an odd day really. We did not get out for a walk. Youngest would not go anyway, but he has been a bit off today. He had his medication for the first time in 5 days, as he seemed to be getting quite upset. He started with a cold sore, and both of us think that this may have been causing him a bit of pain. Mrs H has been attacking it with Tea Tree oil, and it seems to be working. He goes to his weekend group tomorrow, which is useful. It means me and Mrs H can get the eldest, and all his washing, back to his place without too many problems. He is then on respite from Monday until Friday, so it is going to seem a very empty place next week. Shall Mrs H and me do the quiz-nite on Tuesday ? Probably not, but never say never.

One down, two to go …..

Well if I had had some flexi time spare, I would have had today off. Possibly tomorrow too. What a waste of a day. I think I did too much the week before Christmas, and left very little to do today. Mind you, saying that, not many people seemed to do much today. Phones were quiet, and with only a few members of staff in, it was never going to be a really busy day. Probably much the same tomorrow and again on Thursday.

Quiz-nite at the Red Lion tonight. We did not do too bad this week. Twenty nine points is quite respectable, considering the winners only got thirty four points! Not sure if I will go next week. The eldest will be back at his flat, but the youngest is on respite, so it could be me and Mrs H. We have only done that once, and I’m not too sure if she enjoyed herself. We shall see.

Just thinking. I’m not sure if I can be bothered wearing a suit tomorrow. I’m not meeting anyone or going anywhere, so jeans may be the order of the day. I will decide in the morning.

Lost ……

Leeds started well, and a shameful disallow of a, perfectly good, goal did not  seem to upset them. Snodgras played a blinding game, but Beckford had an unlucky game. Then a Liverpool goal from Ngog sealed Leeds’s fate. Leeds held their own, and put a on good show. Lets face it, Liverpool are a leading Premiership team, and Leeds are starting the long climb back. Liverpool 1 – 0 Leeds.

I tell you what, I hate, what I call “pseudo experts”. You know, they are the people that think they know what they are doing, but are not quite as clever as they think they are. It is like this. We have a number of shared files, on our computer system, that are used by all or most of the office staff at sometime or an other. To help people, I have created shortcuts to the files. This, of course makes them lazy somewhat, as it negates the need for them to locate the file for themselves. Computing at it’s very basic level. So of course, they cannot find the files without the shortcut. They manage to search and find their ‘facebook’ and private email accounts, and those addictive flash games that are all over the internet. But ask them to find stuff for work, and they turn into gibbering wrecks. Now I can add the shortcuts again (they lost them when they got new computers) but they are going to have to wait until I have the time to do it. They all want/need/like different shortcuts, so it will not be a quick two minute job, but it will get done. Enter the pseudo expert !! Now my idea would be to right-click on the file and ‘create a shortcut’, then copy and past the shortcut to the users start menu. Not so the pseudo expert. She/he, being clever, decides to drag and drop and in so doing, simply creates a copy of the file onto the start menu. Thus giving everyone their own copy of a shared file. You can see what the problem is going to be !!!

Of course, IT and me share the blame equally. IT for changing the PC’s in the first place, and me for not running round like an idiot, putting the shortcuts back when they had done.

No quiz-nite tonight. Well it was on, but the eldest was not coming up, and I wanted to see the footie. It does make a great difference watching it on a big screen in high definition. Mrs H was not too pleased I think. Still it does not happen that often (22 October is the next Leeds match on TV), and she will have to get used to it for World Cup.

Back again ….

Well, as expected, the quiz-nite went well again. We got 37 points, which is a record for our little (sic) team. Of course, we did not win. That was never on the cards, but that’s not the point. R** won the bingo though. I don’t think she really knew what to do/say when her numbers came up.

It’s strange though, seeing people, that I know from the primary school, when I was on the PTA. People that you remember as little kids, that are now grown up and quite mature and sensible. Makes you feel a little old. I think what is worrying though, is that I know the faces, but not the names. Must be an age thing.

   All done for today.

Quiz nite … yeah

A good night tonight. Of course, we did not win … we left the winning to the usual crowd. But  still a fun night. A lot of S****’s friends turned up, and I think they turned up because he was there.

Here’s a thing though. I got a message from K**** on MSN messenger. It was really nice to hear from her. Sounds like she is on the mend now. Funny though, I did not know she was on MSN !!

R*** has his ears syringed today. It sounds like it was a great success. I think he seemed a lot happier tonight. More than usual. Fingers crossed that we may have hit on something here.

Well I think that is it for tonight. I’m typing under the affluence of incohol.

The prodigal returns …

Well he came home for one evening. Mrs H all giddy at the thought of him being home for the night. He made the tea for us, and did quite well too. He should be okay making a tomato sauce now. Just needs to keep his concentration focused.

Pleasant night at the Red Lion for the quiz night. No one in when I got there. It was not as mad and hectic as the last couple of times we’ve been. I suppose, his drama friends out so outgoing, that when they are not there, it’s a bit flat. He does take the piss out of D** quite a bit. But the thing is, I don’t think D** knows when it is happening. Of course, no win again. The usual bunch won. I’ve stopped taking it serious now. You just cannot win against people like that.

And that’s about it.

Its official …… I’m a ‘nerd’

It’s true …… I am officially a ‘nerd’. To be precise an ‘Excel Nerd’. Well here’s the story. I regularly read the ‘”Contextures Blog” (quick plug) which is an excellent resource for all things Excel, run by the wonderful Debra Dalgleish. I came across this by accident, whilst looking for a solution to a problem with an Excel formula. To cut a reasonably short story even shorter, there was a competition on the website, and I won a prize !!! Thanks very much Debra. It was quite unexpected.

Quiz-nite !!! Well what can I say. Our team was only three points off winning. Not in any of my wildest dreams have we got that close. To be honest, there three questions, that if we had not have changed our minds (and it was a joint decision), would have projected us to the dizzy heights drawn winners. And…… if I had looked a little more closely at the picture of the group, I may, possibly have got it right. I said Earth Wind & Fire, and it was The Commodores. So four questions off winning !!!!! However, I did win the Bingo. It was a joint win, so I had to share, but £13.50 came in very useful, and it was drinks all round for our team. It was a good evening. B** and R** are nice people, and good old Dr J*** was a laugh too, despite his injured Achilles tendon. I don’t know if I’ll go next week. They are after all S****’s friends, and I have serious doubts that when he has left, they will ask me to meet them. I may be wrong.

No walk again. This rain is becoming a bit of a bind, and I’m starting to get a little bored at lunchtimes. My ‘pedometer pack’ has not arrived yet, and according to the coordinator, we start on Monday! I also had a look at the price of ‘cheap’ running shoes. Best price at ‘World of Windsor’, was £25.00, for a make I have never heard of. I do not want to pay a lot, for what may be just a flash in the pan idea.

This blog, seems to be getting somewhere now. Forty two hits yesterday, plus a very generous comment from a reader, and at the last count I had thirty two hits today. This may of course go up (he said with his expanding head) when this gets posted.

Finally, work is getting tedious and annoying. The phone calls I was waiting for yesterday, I am still waiting for …… We have an update to the SQL Server on Sunday (yawn … nerdy Geek stuff … its in the blood now). I have emailed all the relevant people, but you can put money on it, that I will have to do a reminder, before I leave on Friday.

Done for now. or I’ll have nothing to write tomorrow.

Quiz nite … yeahhhhhh

Today has been a good day. C**** came in to see everyone. She’s not changed, except that she is about 40 shades browner than she was.

And so to the quiz nite …… S**** had either invited or was invited by, some of his drama friends. So there we were, B** and his partMallfoy ??ner R**, R****, and good old Dr J***.  Of course, we got no where on the old footie card, but S***** won £27.00 on the bingo. We also did very well on the quiz, scoring a rather respectable 30. All in all, a very pleasant (if a little mad) evening. I’m looking forward to next Tuesday at this rate.

Eerrm, the eldest has changed his hairstyle. It is not what we expected. He had sais that he was going to go Post Box Red, so blonde is kind of a relief. He got a lot of comments and double takes whilst in the pub.

No walk or bike ride today. It was too wet at lunchtime, and by the time I got home, it was raining again. I will do something tomorrow.

That’s all though……

…..come here…there’s more

So Tuesday continues. I decided to go to the quiz-nite after all. Well J**** and his pal C*** arrived and I somehow thought I was showing them how to get to the Red Lion. Yep … an excuse I know.

S****’s friends R**** and B** turned up as expected, and I was kind of introduced. B** seems a really nice guy and R**** is really nice also. I’ve met here before, once, at the last show. I did the ‘promotional material’ for the play. Well I did the poster and tickets, and I think it was appreciated. I did enjoy doing it. Both of them think I should be involved with the panto in some form. I’m not too sure. These things need a commitment. Will I go to the drama meeting … possibly, but then again highly unlikely.

Does this count towards NaBloPoMo ??? Or does only one a day count.
