It’s been a while….

The title of this post says it all really….. it has been a while since my last post. But I’ve not had a lot to say !!! Well not anything that may be described as interesting. Work is still the same … no more news on the review/restructure. Still the usual issues with R***, the youngest. Oh, but wait a minute. I almost forgot ….. S****, the eldest lad has got a new girlfriend. And this time, they are both giving out the ‘hey guys, this is a serious relationship’ signals !!!! No, all joking apart, they’ve been together about a month, that we know about, and they seem very very happy. We have met her parents, even been for a meal together, which was quite a pleasant evening. It is so serious, that the grandmothers have met !!!! Need I say more !!

Now, about this blog. I am struggling at time to think of something to write about. I have no specialist knowledge that I can pass on, so it is basically a random record of my life. Now, I’m not sure if that is enough to blog about. For the majority of the time, it follows the same pattern ….

  1. I wake up
  2. I go to work
  3. I come home
  4. I have dinner
  5. We cope with R***
  6. We go to bed
  7. We sleep with one eye and one ear open
  8. Goto item 1.

And that for the main part is it. Exciting what !!

At this moment in time, I am sat here, with a glass of Brandy, waiting for R*** to settle, and S**** to get in from the pub. I feel absolutely buggered and I’m up at six in the morning to start the whole shebang again. What a life !!!! Tell you what though ….. would not have it any other way !!! (Note to self…. stop bloody moaning then…)

First day

I’m currently off the booze! Well to be more accurate, with effect from today, until Saturday, I will not be having a drink in the house. I’m out on Wednesday night, for an hour, so will have a couple then, but for the rest of the time, it’s carbonated water and tea.

I probably do drink far too much. When you listen to what the ‘experts’ tell me is a safe limit, then the word probably should be replaced definitely. I tend to have a can of beer when I get in from work, a glass of whiskey whilst making/waiting for dinner, wine with dinner then finish the evening off with a brandy or two.

Stopping during the week will not bother me, as I have done it before. In fact, during my early twenties I contracted Yellow Jaundice, and stopped for a whole year, so it’s not an issue.

Right, that’s the guilt trip out of the way. I found a real bargain today. We watched the Brit awards, last week, and I enjoyed Alfie Boethe Les Miserables part. I’ve been a fan of Alfie Boe since he first hit the big  time, back in 2006. Well Mrs H told me that she liked him too, which was a bit of a surprise, seeing as she did not know I had got an album by him. Anyway, his new album was advertised, at ASDA for £9.97. Aha I thought, it will be cheaper on the internet. Amazon had it for more or less the same price, but Play.com had if for about a pound cheaper. I’ll order that next week, I thought at the same time as ordering printer ink. Well, I went to get some salad stuff for tea (healthy eating as well as booze free), and spotted said album, at only £5.00 !! Bargain. Mrs H was well pleased, as I explained that it was a present for her !!!

Youngest is in a good place at the moment. He is on a new medication, which seems to be having an effect. He seems to be a lot happier in himself. It is an antidepressant, which his consultant believes will help with the stress, he thinks might be the problem. I have to agree, he does seem to be very stressed when he has his violent episodes.

Still issues with the dawn chorus though. It woke him up at around 3:30 this morning, but he settled down after about half an hour, which was good. Let’s see what tonight brings.

Tired and working too hard …… (my excuse)

Quiz-nite on Tuesday went very well. That ‘spare part’ feeling had dissipated somewhat. The two people, in the group that don’t usually acknowledge my presence, did this week. That made it a very pleasant evening. However …… getting home at 23:45, and then deciding to have a brandy (or two) is not a good idea. Wednesday morning, one was very delicate to say the least. I should know better, but …… then along comes drama group night, with the eldest at home, and the same happens again !! Whiskey this time, but not as much to drink though, so the old head was in a better condition!

Strange character in the pub though. He was the only one in when I got there, and gave me a very slight nod of the head when I said ‘good evening’ (am I getting paranoid about this …) He just sat there drinking his beer, looking straight ahead. This carried on even after the drama group turned up. It is such a friendly pub, that we tried to include him, but to no avail. Just sat there. Each to their own I suppose.

Work was interesting yesterday. A number of us got presented with an award for excellent sickness record over that past year. A tiepin of all things. even the women got a tiepin !!! No imagination at all. It is a bit of a joke really, as it is supposed to demonstrate our “commitment, dedication and professional attitude” to the job. In fact, it was a celebration of good luck really. Good luck in the fact, that the days when I felt ill, I was not at work anyway. It is hard on people that have to have time off work for life enhancing surgical operations. They get no reward! So to me it seems a little unfair.

My work PC is still out of action. I have decided that when (if) it gets fixed, that I’ll just stick to the lap-top. Makes my desk a lot cleaner. I’ve an interesting job to do tomorrow. It is not really our area of work, but the boss has decided that we can do the work. In the current climate, I’m happy to keep my hand in at anything.

Back on track …. (?)

Really could not be bothered posting anything on Thursday. Work had been tiresome again, and I had actually felt a bit off colour. I had that feeling that was ‘not quite a hangover, but close’ type of feeling. It did cross my mind that I had the beginnings of flu. However it was neither. Friday was much the same, but without the ill feeling. Quite tired though, so maybe I had been ill on Thursday !! Or maybe it was the thought of the next phase in the decorating.

I started the hall, or is it the vestibule ?? Now this place is green. A mid shade of green, but  more dark than light. Painting the roof went very well. Two coats went on easy, and took no time at all. It was the walls that were the problem. For some reason, and I put it down the surface of the previous paint, the white base coat just did not seem to want to take. So the end result is patchy to say the least. Mrs H thinks she may be able to give it another coat this week sometime, which will be a help.

Eldest was was up yesterday. It was the the ‘Strawberry Jam’ music event at the Albion pub in Clifford last night. Another good night. I think it’s the atmosphere that makes all the difference. There is an ‘open mike’ slot, and the people that get up are not what you might call well practised. But, give them their dues, they get up and give it a go, which is something I could not do. So it was a bit of a late night all in all. We did not get home until 00:30, and I fancied a brandy (a bad idea !!) It was gone 1am when we went to bed. Today, I had a bit of that Thursday feeling again. Still nothing to do today, but take the eldest home.
