Been an uneventful day …

So it’s 10 minutes to midnight and you may be wondering why I’m posting about an ‘uneventful day’? To be honest, I have no idea why! I’m struggling to find something new to moan/rant about and it feels a little weird. Of course, it being now 5 minutes to midnight, I may possibly be a little over my usual drinks limit (limit!! That’s a laugh) but I feel quite lucid and sensible. So what’s happened since my last post?

Well very little really. Eldest son has started the process of re-communicating with his ex-partner and it seems to be on a quite civilised level. It seems to me that there are four levels to a relationship break-up:

  1. the disbelief
  2. the anger
  3. the bitterness (aka bitching) and then
  4. sensibility

I think they have just got to level four. They have a lot to discuss and I think if they do not get too much outside interference, then it should go relatively smoothly . Fingers and other appendages crossed!

I think I’m going through a ‘snoring’ period. Well I hope it is! Mrs Me has for the past few nights been waking up and going to the spare (Sh**es bedroom) room to sleep. It often happens, when R**s is at home that one of us ends up in the spare room as he sometimes likes to sleep in our bed. We have got used to and have accepted it as being part of his Autism, but it is a bit of a ball-ache some times. However, for the past week, whilst he has been away, K**h has ended up in the spare room. She seems to go there at around 1:00 am and her reason is usually that she is feeling too hot (the spare room is a lot cooler). I have an idea that the real reason is that I’m snoring! I have to admit, that on occasions, I have woken myself up with a snore. So that’s the reason I’m sticking to.

Time to try and sleep now.

Have you noticed, that this the second post that does not have any ranting! I think I’m on a roll here

Doing a bit of computer housekeeping …

I (currently) own two laptops. My main one sits on my computer desk in the living room but the previous one lives in S****s (the spare bedroom) bedroom. Both work fine but the old one was beginning to get a little slow. So on Friday I decided to give a good clear out and try and bring it to a more reasonable speed. I first spent about three hours getting the system up-to date. As I tend not to use it as much as I use the more recent one, it had fallen a little behind with the “up-dates”.

On Saturday morning I ran a small piece of software that checks most of my applications to see if there re any updates for them. The list was quite large, but as I was not going to be using all the applications on the laptop, I only updated a few. Later in the day I began to uninstall some of the bigger software apps. I managed to get three done before I got fed up with it. Started again this morning and after around four hours, I was in a position to write this post. The machine is now much faster, and it is my intention to use this one to work on any creative writing I happen to be engaged in.

The problem I had was the the Microsoft cloud storage on the ‘old’ laptop was called “SkyDrive” whereas on the ‘newer’ laptop it’s called “OneDrive”. It caused me a bit of grief to get the two synchronised, but I eventually got it sorted. You see if I wanted to do any work, such as write this blog on a Sunday, it was a problem. R*** like to use my newer laptop before he has his lunch, and this has now become part of his routine. It meant that any ideas I wanted to write down had to wait until he had finished.

It’s been a while …

It’s been a few weeks since my last post. No particular reason except laziness really! I tend to post when I have something I want to get off my chest and usually wait until there are a couple of things that rile me. Well there has been some things that have ‘annoyed’ me somewhat, but I’m wanting to break away from the rant style post which may account for the ‘laziness’ I just mentioned. But until then …

I just about survived Christmas, as usual. Saying that, I wasn’t well from Boxing Day to the 29th. I had what I thought was a variation of the Norovirus. I did not have the sickness, but had all the rest. The one thing that seemed to floor me was the lack of energy. On the Friday, I spent the whole day in bed, most of it asleep, which is unusual for me. Lost about 8 pound in weight (sadly not permanent), but by New Years Eve I seemed to be a lot better and by the 2nd I was nearly up to my pre-Christmas weight again!

K*** and me had a trip out to the Designer Outlet at York on Friday. R*** was on respite and was due home that day, so K*** wanted to get out whilst we could. The weather was terrible. One minute it was raining, and the next it was foggy. K*** was driving as I had driven to Harrogate on Wednesday and wanted a rest from it. You know I lost count of the number of cars/vans/lorries that did not have any lights on. Many didn’t even have sidelights switched on. It’s no exaggeration to say that most of them were grey vehicles. So that’s a grey vehicle on a grey road on a grey day! I was told by my driving instructor that those types of day need headlights. I saw one police-car on the whole 25 minute journey and he was at the side of the road eating some food. What cay I say to that?

K*** (or more accurately, me) has been having issues with her email. She does all her stuff on her iPad which suits her as she has not been much of a fan of my laptops. So ever since the latest update the iPad Mail App has been playing up. Emails have not been showing up when they arrive (as they did before) and I have tried to get it sorted. The problem is that I’m not an Apple expert so I have had to hit Google a lot. The problem was exasperated by the fact that her email client is Sky.com or the be more precise Yahoo! It did used to be Gmail until a couple of years ago and it’s not been the same since. Don’t get me wrong, when Yahoo works, it is very good, but when it doesn’t work there is noting worse. It seems to be a little better now, but she now has to refresh the app and wait until the emails appear now instead of them being there when she opened the app. It also does not help that she never deletes any emails. Still, Yahoo tells us that she space for another 54 million emails, so ‘she’ is not too worried. I may have to do a clear out for her at some point.

So, in the spirit of blog posts to come (hopefully). Happy New Year
