Another post ….start of something ??

That tickly cough I mentioned, turned into a full blown chesty experience. Not a good start to the day at all. Then to cap it all, one of my colleagues (termed used loosely) came into work, and glibly announced that he had a chest infection. No thanks mate, I already have my own (or someone’s !!)

I had to do a finance training course today. Those guys have as many weird and wonderful words and acronyms, as IT people have. At least I can understand the IT stuff. What is ‘negative credit’ actually ? Still it was a useful course, and the trainer was interesting. It should have lasted 3 hours, but we got it down to just under 2, so not bad. Testing time will be later this week, when I have to put what I learned into practice.

Day off tomorrow (Tuesday). Mrs H has a hospital appointment, so we will have the rest of the day in York. Hope the weather picks up a little as the forecast is not too good.

Eldest had an interview today for a part-time job. He has not worked in well over year, and finances have hit rock bottom. Well they hit rock bottom quite a while ago, and have not got any better. He did a couple of days last weekend, but it is not enough. Unfortunately, every student is looking for part-time work at the moment, so our fingers are crossed for him.

A little more ….

Today has gone very well. The cold that started on Friday has hit the ‘tickly cough’ stage and the runny nose and sneezing has all but gone. I should be fully fit(ish) by tomorrow. Youngest has been really good this weekend, with no real issues at all. In fact, he has been quite the comedian, and good fun.

We heard from the eldest tonight. Mrs H has been a bit worried over the weekend. He was going to St Albans, with his ex girlfriend (it’s complicated) to see Eddie Izzard. It appeared to us that very little had been organised, and Mrs H was worried that it would all go pear-shaped. Apparently, it did not !!

Work is on a knife edge at the moment. Nothing seems to have changed, but I get the impression that the manager is working very hard to keep the section together. Most of the staff can’t see this of course, and can’t see what could happen to our team, so most of them are carrying on as if ‘the cuts’ won’t affect us. Even my line manager thinks that, if the job get contracted out, “they’ll need a contact manager to oversee the contract”. Well, yes they will, but it won’t be you !!!!!! None of us have any experience of contract management, so wake up !!!!! If the job can be done by a council worker, it can be done by anyone … we are not special. So get off your arses and work like you need the job, because if the ConDems get their way, you are going to need a job !!! Here endeth the sermon/rant for today!

Sparse blogging

When I started this blog, it was my every intention to post something everyday. For a long time this did happen. They were not mind-blowing posts, just general observations on my and my families life. As time went on, this daily blogging drifted into random posts, often with 4/5 a week. Now I seem to have ‘lost the will to post’. It is not that there is noting to post, it is just that when I get the time (usually after 11:00pm) I often cannot be bothered. Hence ‘lost the will……’. So where are we now. Well, I think this will become a random blog. Posting just whenever the wind blows in the right direction, so to speak. Maybe I should do a ‘catch-up’ post. My other blog, for the schools PTA is starting to pick-up a little. Mind you, I did have to write a flyer to send to all the 100 or so parents and carers, which led to two people subscribing to the blog, so a little success there.

Right, a few jobs to do, then who knows, maybe post some more …… which way is the wind blowing!!

After Leeds 2010 ….

Well I managed to camp at Leeds Festival 2010 for three nights … Thursday, Friday and Saturday. S**** slept in “The Tent” the first night, and then stopped with his mate from drama on the Friday and Saturday night.

The bands were amazing. With the size of the festival, being what it is, we did not get to see everyone. It would be impossible, but here is a list of the ones we saw:

  • The Cribs
  • The Libertines
  • Pendulum
  • 3OH!3
  • Ash
  • Chief
  • Paramore
  • Cypress Hill and my favourite
  • Klaxons

It was a fantastic experience, but not too sure if I would do it again though.
