Last night…..

Well tomorrow is the eldest lads big day. The day me and Mrs H have been dreading for very different reasons. Her, because her little boy is fleeing the nest, and me because I know how upset she is going to be. It is going to be one torturous day all round. To cap it all, we have to convince the youngest to go to his weekend club. After a week on respite, that’s not going to be easy either. He was not in such a good mood when I got home. However a couple of downloads later, and he seems to be fine.

Work, well what can I say, that’s not been said before. I have to say though, I hate it when someone takes the same holiday as me. It’s like losing a holiday when someone is off at the same time.

El Spiko is back on Monday. Another thing to look forward to, I don’t think. It will be quite a busy day really. Well the morning will be at least. Four or five reports to run, plus the stuff D*** usually does, and then there is a weekly scheduled routine to run.

Guess what. I managed a bit of a walk at lunchtime. Not far, I would estimate about 3/4 of a mile, just up and down the estate. But it got me out, and it was quite warm really.

Just been to pick the eldest up. He’s been out to a performance of Shakespeare in the Park, with his grandparents. He said it was really good, and the rain held off for them. Pouring down now though (23:30 gmt).

Right, I’ll just finish this whiskey, and I’m done. There is a new NaBloPoMo theme from tomorrow. Apparently the theme is ‘Tomorrow’. That is going to take some working into the blog.

…. and it is still only Thursday

This week seems to be dragging on somewhat. As I expected, the software house rang me at twenty past four … “hello … I finish around four pm as I start around seven thirty am”. Yet again W**l came up with a theory, that I instantly demolished. Does this guy not have any experts that talk to him ?? It is getting to the stage whereby I may have to ring the other office and talk to one of the old school, either M****n or P**l. Still no phone call from the repair company. It is quite bad really. Parts of the company are willing to help, beyond their remit, and others just don’t care at all.

Again, no walk today, except for when I delivered the Parish Magazine. I suppose that could count. It does take just over thirty five minutes, but it’s not exactly ‘brisk’ exercise. However it is better than nothing at all. Still no sign of the pedometer. Tomorrow is the last day. I knew it was too good to be true, that the Council could get something right. But then again …… I could be wrong !!

Not chatted to J**** since Monday. It is slightly worrying. I hope everything is okay. She seems have been on facebook recently, but I don’t often show myself to be online there. J*** was in a chatty mood last night. I can handle that occasionally, but I don’t want to get back to the old ways there. There you go. It is 10:20 and J**** has just signed on a mobile. Panic over.

A bit of a ball ache …… Spike is back on Monday. I thought he had Monday off. It would appear that it is the 1st Monday in September that he is off. G*** is still being a bit of an ar*e. She is such a patronising person, and quite selfish really. If that is Buddhism, then you can keep it.

Youngest is back from respite tomorrow. We hope he is in a better mood than before he went. As I have mentioned, the eldest moves out on Saturday. Mrs H is bearing up at the moment, but it is going to be a rough weekend. I am not looking forward to Saturday night at all. I had a quiet word with him about ringing home over the next week. I think we need to plan this out. I don’t want his mum thinking he is only ringing for the sake of it. What I think he needs to do is not to ring on Saturday, but wait until Sunday evening to call. Then he should ring again sometime on Tuesday. After that, just a couple of times a week will be good. If he rings mobile to mobile, it does not cost anything.

All done.

Its official …… I’m a ‘nerd’

It’s true …… I am officially a ‘nerd’. To be precise an ‘Excel Nerd’. Well here’s the story. I regularly read the ‘”Contextures Blog” (quick plug) which is an excellent resource for all things Excel, run by the wonderful Debra Dalgleish. I came across this by accident, whilst looking for a solution to a problem with an Excel formula. To cut a reasonably short story even shorter, there was a competition on the website, and I won a prize !!! Thanks very much Debra. It was quite unexpected.

Quiz-nite !!! Well what can I say. Our team was only three points off winning. Not in any of my wildest dreams have we got that close. To be honest, there three questions, that if we had not have changed our minds (and it was a joint decision), would have projected us to the dizzy heights drawn winners. And…… if I had looked a little more closely at the picture of the group, I may, possibly have got it right. I said Earth Wind & Fire, and it was The Commodores. So four questions off winning !!!!! However, I did win the Bingo. It was a joint win, so I had to share, but £13.50 came in very useful, and it was drinks all round for our team. It was a good evening. B** and R** are nice people, and good old Dr J*** was a laugh too, despite his injured Achilles tendon. I don’t know if I’ll go next week. They are after all S****’s friends, and I have serious doubts that when he has left, they will ask me to meet them. I may be wrong.

No walk again. This rain is becoming a bit of a bind, and I’m starting to get a little bored at lunchtimes. My ‘pedometer pack’ has not arrived yet, and according to the coordinator, we start on Monday! I also had a look at the price of ‘cheap’ running shoes. Best price at ‘World of Windsor’, was £25.00, for a make I have never heard of. I do not want to pay a lot, for what may be just a flash in the pan idea.

This blog, seems to be getting somewhere now. Forty two hits yesterday, plus a very generous comment from a reader, and at the last count I had thirty two hits today. This may of course go up (he said with his expanding head) when this gets posted.

Finally, work is getting tedious and annoying. The phone calls I was waiting for yesterday, I am still waiting for …… We have an update to the SQL Server on Sunday (yawn … nerdy Geek stuff … its in the blood now). I have emailed all the relevant people, but you can put money on it, that I will have to do a reminder, before I leave on Friday.

Done for now. or I’ll have nothing to write tomorrow.

Rain and more rain

I did not get out at lunchtime. By the time I had finished troughing, there was no time left. And then it was raining when I got home.

It was another day of non-returned calls. Both the software house and repair company did not call back. I’m sure its a plan to get extra time.

Last family quiz-nite tonight. Eldest goes on Saturday, so it may be a little emotional. Then again it may not. I think a couple of his friends are joining us. Hope it is as fun as last time. We cannot move in here at the moment. Everywhere you turn, there are boxes and boxes of pots and pans and food and stuff for the flat. It is going to be hard work getting everything over there. I think it will take more than one trip, but we will see.

That is it for now. There may be more later.

Damn computers….

Well I suppose its not the fault of the computers. They are after all only inanimate boxes of switches. No I blame the techies that run the ICT department. They appear to be just a bunch of people that are not quite up to the standard required. Even the help desk advice gave not real advice. It just told us what we already knew.

A walk this evening. It was about 4 miles, and we called in the pub half way round. Very enjoyable. Although eldest lad was winding his mum up a bit. He moves out on Saturday, and he was joking about all the things he is going to get up to. I told him when we came out of the pub, that he was not making it easy for her.

As boring as it sounds, I think that is it for today.

Only a week and one day ….

The above refers to a celebration, of which I will speak no further. Them that know, know!

So that’s Sunday over. The quick walk to the pub was a none starter, as expected. In fact, it may have been that thought that set the youngest off last night. Just before midnight, and he’s getting worked up. Then he was up at 6am, still fretting about something. He eventually calmed, but the little bit of a lie-in was gone. Saying that though, we did not get any ‘episodes’ to speak of at all. Fingers crossed. However, he is on respite from tomorrow, and he has just said that he does not want to go. A bit half hearted though, so maybe he is just saying it because we expect him to.New desk lamp (sad I know)

My new desk lamp seems to be a great hit with every-one.  The last one I had for, well must be 10 years, and it used very small halogen bulbs,of which I have 15 in the garage. I bought a job lot at B&Q at 3 for £1.00, when they were reduced to 25p for three.  Stuck with them now, but it was a bargain at the time. !!

Software house rang back on Friday. Seventeen minutes past five !!!! I raised the call on Wednesday, and it was not until about ten thirty on Friday morning that good old W**l rang me to ‘clarify the problem’. At the end of the call, I don’t think he had got what the problem was. I know why they leave it until after five. They can then say, that they tried to solve the problem, but we were not available. So it gives then 4/5 days to solve the problem, but it is our fault that it was not solved sooner. Happens every time.

No-one to chat to tonight !!! I’m feeling very left out. INoesis chat cannot believe that there is no-one on MSN. I’m considering going into the  ‘Chat’ for a while. Just to see if there is anyone in that I know.

Well that was a waste of time …… only one person in that I know, and they were not chatting. Is it something I said/didn’t say/do ??

I wonder if my pedometer pack will turn up this week. I’m supposed to start recording steps from the 1st August. I hope I can keep it up, which reminds me. I must have a walk sometime tomorrow. Mind you, with the youngest being away, I may have company. I may also end up in the pub, half way round again. I got details of the ‘running club’. It sounds a little bit too much for me at the moment. I may have to break myself in gently, although I’ll need to get some kit even before the gentle stuff.

All done.

Best laid plans…….

The above title, refers to the National Lottery (Lotto). I had it all worked out. I downloaded the 6 most often picked numbers, and did the Lotto with them. I got one number !!!!! So much for a system, although I will give the same numbers another go next week. It is as good as lucky-dip. What I need is a list of the winning lines, and from that, I’ll try and identify the lines that share the same numbers. I feel an Excel Pivot Table coming on here.

We managed a little walk today, Not easy with theThe Old Star - Clifford youngest as his first reaction to ‘lets go for a walk’ is always an emphatic ‘NO’. However after ignoring his protestations, we did get out. We walked about  4 miles or so, but we did have a pub break about two thirds of the way round. He knew where we were going too, because, just as we got to the pub, he turned into the beer-garden. We usually do this on this walk. My plan is to go to the Red Lion, with both of them tomorrow. I don’t hold out much hope at all. Youngest, said his usual … and the eldest just laughed.

The ‘move out’ day gets nearer. He is counting down the days, and I think Mrs H is trying to put a brave face on it. I don’t know how I feel yet. Part of me says. we’ve done our best and it is now up to him, and the other part is still worried about him. It’s that part that I’m trying to convince , that I was only a year or so older than him when I got married, and I was okay. When I left home for the first time, it was as a married man.

No one on MSN tonight, so it looks like an early night.

… and so to Friday

Well that’s another week over. It seems to have been a long one too. I put that down to the expectation of a ‘Spike Free’ 6 days next week. It is really sad, that everyone can so look forward to his leave, more than their own !! A measure of his popularity.

No walk today (again). The weather was a bit hit Council office - Cross Greenand miss at lunchtime, and I did not feel like it when I got home. I’m not really  trying am I ? I did try and walk at lunchtime though. I got as far as the roundabout just outside, before it started. I’m posting a picture of the place we ‘work’ in. Doesn’t it look grand ?

Youngest has just had an ‘episode’. No apparent reason or trigger. It seems to make him worse, if we try and tell him to stop. Maybe’ ‘stop’ is a trigger !!! It lasted about 5 minutes, although it seemed a lot longer.

The ‘move out day’ draws ever closer. Managed to get a couple of packing boxes, and he started to pack a few things. It’s going to take a lot more effort though. He is handing his notice in tomorrow. They have not been very helpful. He/we thought that they might have been able to find him a job in Leeds. But, they don’t seem to be bothered. Mind you, he’s not exactly actively looking for anything at the moment. I feel he may be starting to realise what is going to happen when he moves out. K*** has sorted out the contents insurance, and I think he is beginning to appreciate how difficult it is going to be. But they say ‘that is part of the experience’. I’m glad I did not go through it.

All done for now.

Better put the bin out……

I feel quite tired tonight. It must be du to trying to sleep with one ear open, listening for the eldest to go to bed. He has to be up at 7:15 this morning, but he was still chatting to D*** at 3am. D** finally went home at 3:15. Eldest looked like death warmed up and gone cold this morning. Apparently, he did not look much better this evening. I know he’s young, but even so. He is out with the ‘ex’ and her mother tonight. They have gone to see Blood Brothers in Leeds. I hope he catches to last bus.

Work is still work. Getting grief from ‘kid’ engineers, who know little about nothing. But good ole Spike to the rescue …. all is serene. What would we do without him. Answers on a postcard no later than Thursday…… It is quite annoying, when you have been doing something for many years, without any issues, and some little upstart comes along and tries to belittle you.

No ‘work out’ today. It was raining at lunchtime, and I just could not be bothered when I got home. I’d been to Asda, as I had seen Jim Beam at £10.00 a bottle on Monday. Of course, the offer had finished by the time I went today. I really must learn to impulse buy sometimes, when there are good bargains to be had. It was the same with the shorts I saw at half price. by the time I had decided that it was a good price, they were back up to full price again. Missed out on a linen shirt for the same reason.

I think that is just about it for tonight. Must remember to put the dustbin out though …

Knackered……

I did a walk tonight as promised. It must have been 5-6 miles as it took  1 1/2 St Mary's Church - Boston Spahours all told. I set a reasonable pace, and I think I kept it up. I did the same walk as last week, but the opposite way round. Plus I added, what must have been at least a mile further into Boston Spa . Taking the route I did, meant that I did not have to View walk uphill on Windmill Road. I have to say though, by the time I was walking by Boston Spa school, I was starting to flag a little.

I don’t think I’ll get a walk of a ride tomorrow. I have an idea, that S**** wants me to take him into Leeds. He is going to see ‘Blood Brothers’ with his ex and her family !!! Very confusing. I may have to rush home for about 5pm. I need to go to Asda though. They were selling Jim Beam, at £10.00 a bottle !!!!! I’m sorely tempted to get 2 bottles at that price.

I got the date for my PDR (Personal Development Review – Appraisal). It is after my holiday, which was a surprise. I had a quick look at the documentation, and it looks like this might be a proper appraisal, and not just the usual  ‘chat’ we have been though for the past 8 years. Unfortunately, I’m up first, which means that he’ll be ‘very fresh’.

That’s all for now.

Quiz nite … yeahhhhhh

Today has been a good day. C**** came in to see everyone. She’s not changed, except that she is about 40 shades browner than she was.

And so to the quiz nite …… S**** had either invited or was invited by, some of his drama friends. So there we were, B** and his partMallfoy ??ner R**, R****, and good old Dr J***.  Of course, we got no where on the old footie card, but S***** won £27.00 on the bingo. We also did very well on the quiz, scoring a rather respectable 30. All in all, a very pleasant (if a little mad) evening. I’m looking forward to next Tuesday at this rate.

Eerrm, the eldest has changed his hairstyle. It is not what we expected. He had sais that he was going to go Post Box Red, so blonde is kind of a relief. He got a lot of comments and double takes whilst in the pub.

No walk or bike ride today. It was too wet at lunchtime, and by the time I got home, it was raining again. I will do something tomorrow.

That’s all though……

…..and so to continue

I did the bike ride !!!! Must have been about six miles. Spen Common Lane - BramhamAlong the access road (keeping to the newly made foot/cycle/bridle path), up  Spen Common Lane to Headley Hall, down the bridle path (passing a few bricks on the way), then along Aberford Road, down Church Hill and home. Knackered !!I think I may alternate between walking and cycling. My calves feel like iron.

C**** is coming in to say hello tomorrow. It will be good to see her again. I may even take the plunge and go into town on the bus. Go out for lunch. But then again, that could ruin my ‘grumpy old man’ image. But who knows.

Here is an odd thing (just to change the subject). My car seems to be doing, more miles to the gallon/litre these days. Take today for instance. The odometer showed that I had done 300 miles since the last fill up. Now that is usually, the number of miles before I fill up, give or take 5 miles or so. However, at 300 miles, the petrol gauge showed just over 1/8 of a tank left, or an equivalent of 35 miles. My theory is that, the warm weather (?) means the engine does not take as long to warm up, and so uses less juice. However, I do seem to be driving more miles these past few weeks.

I’m now on the NaBloPoMo blogroll, so I may get a little more traffic coming my way. hope this is not too boring for you all.

It is as I thought…..

This is not the official Monday musings. Briefly, I have just heard, that “The guy from Bradford” has applied for the job. Now I had heard this before, and it’s probably why he started pestering me.  That would be an interesting senario. It he got it, that would leave two very upset people.  Watch this space.

Here comes another … just like the other

I think it was a joint decision. Not to go to the pub. Youngest was no right from the start, and the eldest looked at me as if I was bereft of all intelligence. I did not ask again !!!! I do think I was pushing it anyway.

Quite a few jobs to do today. Mrs H at work and it decided to wash the bedding. Now this new bedding we have has a top sheet as well as a duvet and bottom sheet. This means, that there is even less space to dry inside should it rain ……… which of course it did !! A bit of gardening in between showers, and four attempts at pumping up the bike tyres. So I’m all set for a bike ride tomorrow evening, before dinner (note to ‘one-on-high’ … no rain please.)

I hopefully will get my pedometer this week. It will be interesting to see how many steps I do make in a day. I don’t get it though. One is supposed to do at least 1000 steps in a day, but the nurse insisted that I need to do a 20 minute “brisk” walk to get any benefit. Are both right ? If I do 20 minutes brisk walking does that mean I don’t need to do 1000 or vice versa ?

Eldest stayed down after dinner tonight. That has not happened for a long time. We watched Peter Pan on ITV2. It was okay I suppose, but it had nothing going for it except the effects.

I think I’ll be getting my appraisal next week. It will be the usual thing …… part pat on the back/part where I’m going wrong. There will be no training requirement (again), just a carry on as usual.

Saturday … the blog continues

Well it has been a reasonable if a little boring day. Eldest at work and Mrs H running the cafe at the school fayre. Apparently it went quite well. They don’t seem to get the numbers that they used to, but a lot of people cannot be bothered. That left me and the youngest ‘home alone’ . We had a bit of shopping to do, but he did not want to go at all. It was the quickest shopping trip ever I think. Forty-five minutes all in, and that includes driving there and back and parking too !!!! The rest of the time was spent doing jobs…yawn.

Did anyone see the new lottery show ???? Guestimation !! What a load of Nick Knowles rubbish. This tripe will be lucky to finish the series, let alone get a second one. Who is Nick Knowles anyway ? I thought he was a plumber or an electrician, not a serious presenter. Anyway, calling the programme rubbish was being kind. What made it worse was that I did not even get one number on either the Thunderball or Lotto !!!!

What else….did not do a walk today (again), I am getting out of the routine before I have even got into it. I am tempted to get my bike sorted, and go for a ride as an alternative to walking. It will probably be a better exercise, and may help to get the old stomach down a bit.

I am going to try and get the two lThe Red Lion - Bramhamads to go for a brief walk tomorrow, just to get out of the house. Even if it is only to the Red Lion. Could be an interesting hour or two. It probably will not happen, but fingers crossed. Saying that, I don’t know who will be the first to say, they are not going. It’s even money on both of them to say no! It will be nice it it happens. I will report back tomorrow.

We may have found the reason why the youngest ‘kicks off’ at around tea-time. I noticed that he was holding his ears, and getting upset whilst I was cooking. The extractor hood is quite noisy, and I thought it might be that. I turned it off, and he settled down very very quickly !!!! I will try this again tomorrow. I will have the fan on, and see if it has the same effect when I turn it off. Could be the answer. Quite often, we have the extractor on when he is eating.

Right, I think that is it for today. Quite a lot to say I have not done much.

Day seven …

It’s true …… been doing a daily blog for seven days (pat self on back.) When I started last Sunday, I had no idea, that I could do three days in a row, let alone seven.

I have a new header picture. It was one I took on my mobile phView from Windmill Roadone a few weeks ago. Mrs H and me were out for a walk, and I liked the colours. It was up on Windmill Road, which has quite a steep incline if you walk it from Clifford. I took two photos and this is the second one. They are not bad picture, to say they are from a mobile.

No walk today. The rain just made it a no go. I went to the pub at lunch time (again). I needed to get away. G*** and her bloody phone was driving me nuts. How difficult can it be to swap a phone ???? Of course it was not her fault … everybody else was at fault.

The drive home was a bit scary. The rain was very heavy in parts on the A1, and most vehicles were driving with care. Of course there was the odd exception. The usual ‘loonies’ in their 4×4’s, driving like idiots in the outside lane.

It’s the school fayre tomorrow. Me and the youngest will not go. He cannot really cope with these days, and if I’m honest, I cannot cope either. And I suppose it’s not really fair on him…we’ve been telling him all week, that Friday is his last day.

York - nightime Eldest seems to have had a good time in York last night. Mrs H said, that he absolutely stank of booze this morning. He does not have a clue when he went to bed, but then again, when I was that age, I think I had nights like that…but I don’t remember.

My new MSN friend, J**** came back yesterday. It’s nice to chat again. I’ve just said, that it is strange to think, that 3 weeks ago, we just said ‘hello/how are you/goodbye’ in chat and now we chat properly most nights.

That’s it for now.

A wet day

It was a bit wet at lunchtime, but still warm. Warm and wet does not bode well for a walk by the sewerage works. So I thought I would walk when I got home again. However, It was looking really unsettled, when I got home, and true to form, it was raining within half an hour. Anyway, after yesterdays ‘epic’ four miler, my legs were a bit achy.

Eldest is out on the lash, in York tonight, with some old school pals. As we do not have a bus service, that would get him the 15 miles or so to York, I took A64 at Bramhamhim. It is ridiculous really. It is only 2 miles from our house to the A64, but we would have to catch a bus to Seacroft (10 miles), to catch the bus to York. It always gets me angry, when people says we have to change our reliance on the car. Improve the bus services and people will change. I get even angrier, when they call it ‘public transport’. It’s not!! They are private commercial companies that are in business to make a profit for their shareholders. Customers take a back seat, and routes are only viable if they make lots of money. Rant over !!

J**** was back tonight. I left an offline message, but when I logged on to MSN, she sent a goodnight message. She will have been travelling for a long time, so bound to be tired. We will chat tomorrow hopefully. I have missed her. Strange that, after such a short time. I had a bit of chat with N*** on Yahoo this morning. We’ve not done that for ages. It was good to hear from her.

S**** is having his PDR (personal development review) tomorrow, so that means that we will have to have ours next week. It will be next week, as he is off the week after (hurrah). I would love to be a fly on the wall when he does G***’s PDR. I imagine that sparks will fly !!!!

All done (see I appear to be writing everyday…how long will this last … watch this space)

A bit of a change

It has been a reasonable day today, after the youngest sons ‘episode’ this morning. He had wanted some movie clips downloading last night, and of course, it was too late when I got in. So working on my theory, that he wakes up with ‘unfinished business’, that resulted in the episode. I did the clips when I got in from work, but he was not happy. It was then that I found that the disc I had done could not be seen on his PC. Probably because they were cheap. Saying that, they were half price at £3.50 for 25, so not really ‘cheap’.

So to the change. Well it was a bit wet this lunchtime, so I did not go for my little walk. I went to the pub instead. NoThe windmill on Windmill Rd the change was, I walked when I got home. I walked for about 75 minutes, so I must have covered about 4 miles. Up to Clifford, then along Windmill Road to Town Hill and then home. It was Windmill Road that slowed me down. I’ll walk the route the opposite way next time. It was a good job that I did not have any money with me, as I was ready for a drink as I passed the Red Lion. My legs were aching (and still are) when I got home. Just not used to the exercise at all. Still I’ll keep going whilst the weather holds. I did think of getting by cycle out though. That may be an alternative. R**** mentioned last night about the Bramham Running Group, and that I should join. If I get sent any info through facebook, I’ll look into it.

No one chatting on MSN tonight, and I don’t want to go into ‘Chat’. The last time I logged in, there seemed to be a lot of back stabbing and nastiness. I get enough of that at work. I am missing chatting to J**** though. I hope her holiday is going well. I just had a quick look in Chat …. still the same . I think I’ll give it a miss for a few days.

…..come here…there’s more

So Tuesday continues. I decided to go to the quiz-nite after all. Well J**** and his pal C*** arrived and I somehow thought I was showing them how to get to the Red Lion. Yep … an excuse I know.

S****’s friends R**** and B** turned up as expected, and I was kind of introduced. B** seems a really nice guy and R**** is really nice also. I’ve met here before, once, at the last show. I did the ‘promotional material’ for the play. Well I did the poster and tickets, and I think it was appreciated. I did enjoy doing it. Both of them think I should be involved with the panto in some form. I’m not too sure. These things need a commitment. Will I go to the drama meeting … possibly, but then again highly unlikely.

Does this count towards NaBloPoMo ??? Or does only one a day count.

….and so to Tuesday

Here we are again. I hope this counts. Well the walk before work did not happen!! Bus Shelter on Knowsthorpe GateI almost got up, but then again psychologically, I knew I would not. So I did a different walk today. About 2 miles or so,  but just around the industrial estate. Still breathing exhaust fumes, but the scenery was different. This bus shelter, was the most exciting thing on the whole walk !!!!!

The ‘kick-off’ between G*** and S**** never happened, much to my disgust. All was settled through email !! What ?? You just cannot rely on anything these days.

Eldest has invited me to the quiz-nite, with some of his friends. I may go, but I’m paying for everything as I usually do. It has just started to rain, so not sure if one of his pals will turn up. He comes from York on a motor bike.

Done for now.

Monday…..can’t believe I’m blogging again

So I signed up for the National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo). Apparently it is a program to get people to write in a blog every day. They have a theme (July is ROUTINE), and I think the Americans can win a prize. I don’t think we get anything over here. It is usually the case. Anyway, I have to write something everyday for a month, and put NaBloPoMo as a tag so people can find it. I wonder if it will get me a little traffic. Can’t not I suppose. Fear not, it will not last. However, if it gets me to write more, then my blog can only improve, which can only be a good thing. I may struggle with the theme too. I tend to write about nothing in particular.

And so to today. Youngest was awake at 4:00am and he was not very happy. I think he had had a bad dream. I heard what could be described as ‘grunting’ at about 3:50am, but he seemed to be still asleep. Then he kicked off. Thankfully it only lasted a few minutes. I got him some snacks and left him too it. I think he went back to sleep, well at least I did. My other theory is that he had not finished his computer work, and we made him shutdown. It could be that this was still running around his head, whilst he was asleep, and it was that which woke him up. He then finished what he was doing and went back to sleep. It is as good as any theory … the ‘experts’ do not have any other.

My lunchtime walk continues (okay it is only the 2nd one). As I have said, its not a pleasant walk. On one side of me I Knostrop Sewage Works have a continuous stream of heavy traffic, usually refuse wagons, and on the other side there is a large sewerage works. I’m not too sure of the health benefits in breathing that lot in !!!! Mrs H has suggested, that I go for my ‘brisk’ walk, before I go to work. This is an interesting idea. so as I am determined to shape up a little, I have set the alarm for 6:00am. I will do a half hour or so round the village before getting ready for work. Kill or cure.

Talking of work, we thought it might all kick off between G*** and S**** this afternoon. I was quite looking forward to it. Tomorrow maybe ??

ooh look…more Sunday

Eldest home safe and sound, although I’m not too sure he wanted to come home really. He did not talk much about his few days away, but says he enjoyed it. He is at that age when talking to parents is not what should be done.

A very pleasant drive to Beverley.  A lot quicker this time, as I knew the route. It took about an hour each way, but the traffic was very light. I got there a bit too early though. When I rang him, he was just eating, so I went to the pub just around the corner. It was one of those ‘Happy Eater’ kind of pubs, and it was absolutely packed. Full of families.

I would like to have a day there again. We went a long time ago, I think on the way back from Hornsea. It was strange driving past the race course though. There were cows wandering into the road !! No fences to keep them in! Just wandering.

Quick chat with C**** tonight. She seems quite well. Crazy girl. No one else is saying hello, so might as well call it for tonight.

Sunday am …

Well here goes with the ‘write something everyday idea. We shall see how long this lasts.

Surprise mobile MSN from J**** this morning. I did not expect to here from her for a few days. On her way to Ireland and messaging from the coach. What a nice thing to do.

Waiting for a text from the eldest. Going to see if he needs picking up before 6pm. If he does, it means taking youngest with me. Don’t think either of them would be too pleased about that !!

A couple of jobs to do today. Going to get them done ASAP. Get them over with.

That’s it for now. Not much I know, but I may add a little more later … watch this space !

It’s been a long week ….

Work is a ball ache. Nuff said ?

Eldest lad and me went to Scarborough last Sunday (youngest was on respite.) Very ‘man-to-man’ experience. A pint in a pub, then fish & chips on the front, before a couple of games of pool in the arcade. We then went on to Filey, but there was nowhere to park, and we were both feeling a bit tired so we just came home. Took ages to get there, traffic was a nightmare.

I was off on Thursday, and we took the eldest to Beverley to stay with his Uni pal. This is the guy he will be sharing a flat with from August. Only stopped to say ‘hello’ and then we had to leave, but he seemed okay. We then had a day in Bridlington, which was nice. It seemed very strange, just the two of us. Took us back a few years. Is this what we will have to get used to again ??? I am going to pick him up at around 6pm on Sunday.

I have a new friend on MSN. A nice person from ‘chat’. We got into ‘PM’ somehow, and it grew from there. We now chat for a while most nights. No expectations, just pleasant conversation. She is going to Ireland for 5 days, so I’ll be a bit lost chat-wise. I never know when N*** is online, A*** seems to be very stressed at the moment and certain other people can be a bit weird. Some take everything too serious. Lighten up !!

I saw the nurse on Wednesday evening, about my blood pressure. Gave me lots of ‘good advice’. Told me I need to do 20 mins vigorous exercise, at least five days a week. So the walk along the prom at Brid was a start. On Friday, I decided to go for a ‘brisk’ walk at lunchtime. Walked on the footpath toward the M1. It was about 2 miles there and back, so not bad. I will try and do that more often. It’s not the most pleasant of routes, but I’ll put my MP3 player on, and make the best of it.

Gardening today. Hedge trimming and lopping mostly, and the ubiquitous grass cutting. I’m wacked, but you can see what we did.

I need to write more often. Get into a routine. This needs a plan. I may have to make notes during the day…that may be an idea.

That’s it for now.

Yankee Doodle Dandy……

Am I missing something here ????  I heard on the local news last night about some comments like “If you’re out celebrating 4th July…..”. Forgive me if I’m mistaken, but was that not the time the British got stuffed in the ‘War of Independance’ and kicked out America ?????  Why would I celebrate that ?

On another tack. I am now on linkedIn. I don’t know what it will do, but it is ‘another string to my bow’ as the saying goes.

Done for now.
